Sheila R. Pratt, PhD, is an Associate Professor in the Department of Communication Science & Disorders at the University of Pittsburgh, and has a research appointment in the Geriatric Research Education and Clinical Center at the VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System. Her research and teaching interests include pediatric and adult aural rehabilitation. She currently is funded by the VA RR&D to assess the impact of hearing loss and audibility on the use of phonetic context in auditory-visual processing of speech.

Dr. Pratt's other research activities include investigating the effects of hearing loss on language processing in persons with aphasia, and measuring the impact of hearing loss and hearing-aid signal processing on the speech production and perception in young children with hearing loss. Dr. Pratt has published research in a variety of peer-reviewed journals and recently completed an appointment as an Associate Editor for the Journal of Speech, Language, and Hearing Research.
